1972-73 New York Rangers #1 Eddie Giacomin Game Worn Jersey - Photo Matched
Game Worn White Home Jersey - Photo Matched
This remarkable NHL New York Rangers jersey was worn by Hall of Fame Goaltender Eddie Giacomin in either the 1971-72 NHL playoffs or the 1972-73 regular season due to a photo match in action depicting the NY Rangers vs the Chicago Black Hawks. The Hawks wore a new style of jersey in the 1972 playoffs featuring a crossover neck but the numbers remained the same “single twill” style. They wore these into the following 1972-73 season. The photo match of Giacomin shows two distinct angular puck marks on the inner left arm above the wrist. They match two faded but visible marks in the exact location and at the same angle on the jersey. The jersey is all original with the fantastic “Giacomin” name sewn with individual letters on the back. The original “Gerry Cosby” tagging and “wash tag” remain in the collar. There is a size written in pen on the wash tag but it is washed away. The jersey shows amazing wear with puck marks throughout, heavy pilling inside, sweat stains and a team repair high on the back shoulder. The original garter belt fight strap remains inside and the original tie down lace remains in the collar. Mr. Giacomin has added his signature to the back lower hem which helps maintain the integrity of the jersey’s eye appeal. To say that Eddie Giacomin, New York Ranger jerseys are hard to find is an understatement.
