1980-81 Boston Bruins # 33 Larry Melnyk Game Worn Rookie Home Jersey
Very Rare all original Stall And Dean Bruins jersey worn during home games by enforcer defence man, Larry Melnyk. The jersey features the all original name plate on the back with no evidence of any other name bar having been used. This Stall And Dean jersey was made for the 1979-80 season as indicated with the "9" year tag in the collar. No player wore # 33 for the Bruins during that season so it would have been kept for use by Larry Melnyk during the 1980-81 season. Several photo references can be found on Getty Images showing Melnyk in this style jersey.
The jersey exhibits nice wear in the form of a team repair to the left arm, scattered stick marks, a couple un-repaired holes and nice pilling inside. The Stall And Dean tag is sewn to the collar with the "9" tag sewn underneath that tag representing the jersey having been created in 1979. The garter belt fight strap resides in side. The Bear crests reside on the shoulders adding to that classic Vintage Bruin look.
Larry Melnyk started his NHL career with the Boston Bruins in 1980-81 playing 26 games in this Rookie season. He went on to play 48 games the following season with the Bruins. He was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 1983-84 and won two Stanley Cups with the Oilers. He then went on to play a couple seasons with the New York Rangers before ending his career with a couple seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. He retired following the 1989-90 season with 686 penalty minutes in 432 games played. 11 Goals and 63 Assists.
There is a Bobby Orr autograph on the front crest in very clean sharpie. This autograph appears authentic in every regard.
This is a great opportunity to acquire a very sought after Bruins vintage game worn jersey with the original name bar.
