1949-51 MEDICINE HAT TIGERS # 7 LEN “COMET” HALEY
GAME WORN ALBERTA JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE CAPTAIN’S JERSEY
The only example of a Medicine Hat Tiger game worn jersey from this era that is known to exist. And it was worn by Captain and future NHLer, Len “Comet” Haley during his two year tenure with the team from 1949-1951. He led the team in scoring by 38 points in his last season and at the age of 19 that season was actually called up to the Omaha Knights of the USHL for three games scoring a goal and adding three assists. Originating from Mr. Haley himself, the Canadian National Hockey Museum is proud to add this amazing specimen to it’s collection of rare junior and minor professional game worn jerseys. An important piece in the preservation of the history of hockey in Western North America, this jersey shows the typical wool design with a felt crest and numbers synonymous with this era. The jersey features a scripted “Tigers” across the front and a Captain “C” in the left chest. The “dot” on the “i” in “Tigers” is still present! A felt “7” adorns the back. Cresting was done in Toronto by “Unique Crests and Athletic Supplies.”
