1979-80 NHL Detroit Red Wings # 20 Vaclav Nedomansky
Game Worn Road Jersey
This jersey was worn by Vaclav Nedomansky of the NHL Detroit Red Wings during the 1979-80 season. He has been inducted in both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the International Hockey Hall of Fame. A two time Olympian with Czechoslovakia, he made his debut in North America professional hockey with the WHA Toronto Toros in 1974 scoring 41 goals his first season and 56 in the next. He was picked up by the NHL Detroit Red Wings from the WHA Birmingham Bulls on November 18, 1977 in what was the first NHL/WHA cross-league trade.
Playing on a very weak Detroit hockey club, he was still able to score 38 goals and 35 goals in his first two full seasons of 1978-79 and 1979-80.
This jersey is from the 1979-80 season. The Stall and Dean manufacturer tag remains sewn into the collar along with the size 52 tag and the "9" tag, symbolic of Stall and Dean jerseys made for the 1979-80 season. The jersey is a heavy red mesh with white knit trim. There is strong evidence of game wear in the form of 3 X bullet style team repairs, sweat stains in the collar tags, stick marks, board burns and heavy pilling on the outer sleeves from glove wear and on the inner upper arms. The " Olympic Sporting Goods tag" remains sewn into the inner left hem. The name bar has been removed. Very difficult to see but there are a couple small thread remnants visible.
The jersey will come with a comprehensive Letter of Authenticity from Global Vintage Sports Memorabilia Inc.
