1988-90 QMJHL Victoriaville Tigres # 29 Stephane Fiset
Game Worn and Autographed Jersey
This fabulous jersey comes from the personal collection of Mr Stephane Fiset. A detailed outline of his career can be found at the following link can.theqmjhl.ca
Stephane Fiset was selected in the 2nd round by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He was named Goaltender of the Year in both the QMJ and the Canadian Hockey League. The same season he defended the net for Canada's National Junior team, which finished in 4th place at the 1989 World Junio Hockey Championship. A year later, he helped Team Canada capture a gold medal. In September of 1989 he started the season with the Nordiques. Wisely he was returned to complete his major junior internship with the Tigers as a 19 year old. He played 136 career games for the Tigers collection 70 wins with a 3.43 GAA. Fiset was the cornerstone of a team that captured the Jean-Rougeau Trophy as regular season champions in 1989-90.
After a season and a half with Halifax in the AHL he joined the Nordiques for good in January of 1992. He improved greatly in his first few seasons in Quebec, as did the Nordiques who would become the Avalanche with which he won the Stanley Cup in 1995. Overall Fiset played with four NHL teams including the Montreal Canadiens in 2001-02. In 365 games he won 164 and posted a 3.07 GAA.
This jersey is most likely from the last season he played with the QMJHL Victoriaville Tigers in 1989-90. The wear is moderate with puck marks scattered throughout the shoulder and neck area. There is some stretching and pilling in the "V" neck collar. And a burn to the back "T" in FISET. Some wear is evident to the snaps in the fight strap.
The jersey is a Maska Ultrafill with the original tag present in the collar. The size "54" and "G" for goaltender are written in pen on the tag. The jersey measures 27" at the chest (consistent with size 54 notation) and 31" in length. The jersey is also autographed by Stephane Fiset on the fight strap.
The CCM and CHL logos are embroidered on the back hem. "FISET" is screened on in white to a red name bar measuring 15 1/2" X 3 1/4". The crest is 11 X 9 1/2" twill with embroidered Tiger head over a "V" which is sewn to the chest. 2 X twill smaller 4 1/2 X 4" crests are sewn to the shoulder.
This is a fabulous and short lived style used by the Victoriaville Tigres.
